Phil or Dr. Phil, what ever you want to call me is still following at least some of the endeavors of Charlie Sheen. What’s Charlie Sheen doing now? Quite frankly, most of the time it is difficult and some times frustrating to follow his many endeavors. I some times wonder where he get’s all his energy. Is it from all the booze and and other drugs he has been at least reportedly taking into his body. Some times I think he is smart and sometimes I think he is dumb. I guess he and his family have to be the judge of this. Since the last article I wrote and hope you read Charlie Sheen has been involved with several endeavors. He is now officially divorced, and did not when his custody battle. He has recently completed his last show of “My Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat is not an Option” Some of his shows were highly accepted while others were a bust. It seems that his success or failure depended on the city where he was performing. I understand that Charlie Sheen is considering taking the show to Europe. As I am looking for a way to summarize what Charlie is doing with his life. If there was a score card, some of his marks would be high and others low, to very low. He has been dumped by one of his goddesses, and is pissed at Chuck Lorre’s efforts to reboot Two and a Half Men without him. On the good side of Charlie Sheen which most people don’t see often he has been helping those people who have been devastated in the terrible storms in Alabama. Charlie Sheen is not all bad. How do the rest of you feel, or do you even care. I’m not sure where I stand. I like him at times and then there are times when I do not like him. It might be that many like him, but just do not like what he does to others. Right now he seems to be helping others not as fortunate.

Your goal for your first date is to get to know each other. Be sure to plan a date so you will be able to focus on each other and a conversation. Don’t go on a social blockade like a movie or loud concert. Be sure that your surrounding is not the focus, put your personality out there and get back to the basics: effort and charm. You should always try and have your first date in the daytime because you are more likely to be more relaxed. A date a nighttime has more of a romantic connotation and people feel forced to be sexy. Bowling is perfect for a first date because it’s casual and public and it’s an activity that everyone can do. It’s a place where you can talk, sit, eat and laugh. Another good idea is going for brunch on the weekend. It’s casual, not loud and more relaxed than a dinner and gives you time to talk. If all works out well on your first date and you really connected with your date, then you can plan for a second date.
When opposites attract

Being with someone that is opposite from you can be good but it can also be a bad. Can opposites really stay together for the long term? Relationships are difficult as it is; marriage/long term relationships are an adjustment and take some sacrifice. You should learn to manage your expectations because people get upset when their expectations are violated. You should never undermine your spouse’s/partners authority. Don’t try and change your mate. Look at your own behavior because the only person you control is you. Take ownership of your relationship, and don’t wait for your partner to take action. Don’t complain, but ask your partner for what you want and be specific. Recognize how your partner enriches your life and appreciate your differences. Opposites can compromise and find middle ground that will keep you both happy. Every relationship is based on an underlying friendship that meets the needs of the two people involved. Always respect your partner and their beliefs and remember what made you fall in love with them. Give your partner what they need if it’s their social space or quiet time alone. After all it was their opposite attraction that brought you to them and you don’t want to change them.

April 23rd, 2011Phil, or Dr. Phil as some call me has still been following the adventurers of Charlie Sheen. I’m sure every one remembers the kiss that Charlie planted on Jimmy Kimmel’s lips during his interview some time ago. I’m not sure how many remember the coffee mug that Charlie Sheen gave the host that night. Do you remember the picture on the mug. I say it was a fox. What does this mean? I’m sure only Charlie Sheen knows the real answer. If it is a fox it could mean he is as quick as a fox, or maybe smart as a fox, or maybe trying to find a way to get out of trouble, or just making a joke to forget some of his troubles. For what ever reason Charlie Sheen is still a mystery. He apparently has had some good luck and some bad luck with many of his his actions. He lose his battle for custody of his sons with estranged wife Brooke Miller at least for now. However, I think Charlie Sheen sees this as temporary. It is doubtful that he will quit trying and he has the money to keep trying for custody of their sons. I’m not sure if any one cares, but probably most have been at least aware Charlie Sheen’s new one man show he calls “Violent Torpedo of Truth.” It appears that it was a bust in Detroit, but fared better in Chicago and Cleveland. The last so to speak headlines is that Charlie Sheen wants his job back in the show ” Two and a Half Men.” Will maybe. What do you think?

Are you attracted to your opposite?
April 21st, 2011Over the years we have seen romantic comedies that have us believing that opposites do attract. We have all seen the shows where a couple interacts like oil and water for the entire show, only to realize later that they are destined to be together. Yes, we are sometimes attracted to the person we find mysterious or that rebel but human nature is to seek out people who we think act like us. We look for certain traits in a romantic partner. It’s normal for people who think they are attractive to look for a similarly attractive person; people who think they are wealthy usually want a partner of equivalent status. If someone is family orientated or close to their family, they usually seek out a person who is. We look for that attitude similarity that could include religion or personal beliefs. Actually, couples that have more in common personally, as opposed to attitude-wise seem to be happy and satisfied in their relationships. Even though people may seem to be opposites don’t mean that they are, because a heavily tattooed man can find love with a never been inked gal, they just have to be both at the same level of neurotic. Yes, some people may fall in love with the thought of falling in Love with the opposite but the truth is we all wind up looking for someone with the same outlook on life as ours.
